GdS: Milan to have depleted attack for Rapid Wien friendly – the five players available

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will begin their preseason campaign in exactly one week when they make the short hop over to Austria, but Paulo Fonseca will not have close to a full squad.

As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports, the first of the friendlies that Milan will play this summer takes place on Saturday 20th at 17:30pm at the Allianz Stadion, before the squad leave for the American tour.

It is in the United States that the level will be raised, because the Soccer Champions Tour will put the Rossoneri against Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona, in New York, Chicago and Baltimore respectively.

While waiting for new signings and the arrival of the players who have been involved in the national team, the attack will be entrusted to the young players who have just returned from loan spells in the 2023-24 season.

The starting role (temporarily) could go to Lorenzo Colombo, who returned to the Rossoneri after a season at Monza. The other attackers in the squad at present are Marco Nasti, Daniel Maldini, Chaka Traoré and Luka Romero.

Fonseca will only have Luka Jovic back from July 23rd, while both Rafael Leao and Noah Okafor will join the group in America. In any case, Alvaro Morata will be the last to join if he signs, given that he will only end his long season tomorrow evening in the European Championship final.
