GdS: Milan discover key obstacle as they probe situation of Chelsea defender

By Isak Möller -

As Alessio Romagnoli and Mateo Musacchio are still injured, Milan are looking for a centre-back on the market. The captain is expected to return very soon, but the opening games of the season have exposed a lack of depth at the back.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews.it, one of the names that the Rossoneri have probed is Antonio Rudiger. The German is seemingly set to leave Chelsea before the window closes and a return to Serie A could be an option.

However, he’s not expected to join Milan, at least as things stand. He currently earns €4.5m per year and this is too much for the Rossoneri, who recently implemented a €2.5m wage cap which only will be disregarded for key players.

It’s clear that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are monitoring several players on the market, keen on finding the best solution for the team. As we approach the final days of the market, we will soon know more.
