GdS: Milan enquire about Porto man as further midfield signing cannot be excluded

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan might not have made their final midfield signing of the summer just yet after Yunus Musah’s arrival, with a Porto star on the list.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) this morning, the current feeling of Stefano Pioli and the management is that Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders, Musah, Rade Krunic and Tommaso Pobega should be enough cover.

However, considering that for Ismael Bennacer’s return it will be necessary to wait until February and Krunic is in the sights of Fenerbahce, a further reinforcement cannot be excluded, perhaps coming from the opportunities at the end of August.

Nicolas Dominguez is waiting for Milan but is also being sought by Fenerbahçe, but Marko Grujic of Porto is on the list too. The Serbian has experience in the Champions League and characteristics suitable for Pioli’s style.

Milan have asked for information, for now we are at this stage, but Porto are an expensive shop.

    1. Dominguez is the profile best needed with experience in Serie A that we need, unfortunately Pioli has an ongoing affair with Krunic which halts his sale. For me to end the market well and realistic Esteve, Dominguez and calafiori/mazzocchi all have to come in. The bomber striker would have to be a next season project with Jonathan David with one year left on his contract next summer he’d be an idea but names of top striker talents pop up very quickly

      1. Maybe Pioli is having a love affair with Krunic. Or maybe as a professional coach he understands the invaluable benefits of having veterans in a team. See how Zlatan, Kjaer, Giroud shaped a young team into a winning one. That’s why Florenzi, Kjaer or Krunic are still with the team. To be clear, nobody wants Krunic as a starter, but for the rotation he’s fine and he’s a good veteran.

Now I understand that this is a business and if a good offer arrives, we have to take it and Dominguez seems like a fine replacement, but clearly it isn’t Pioli’s plan to bring more youngsters and newcomers after the team (starting XI and depth) has been relatively shuffled. Especially in the brand new midfield.

          1. We really can’t have an interesting discussion here, there’s always some lost soul throwing misleading judgments around. Man I’m not Pioli nor Krunic’s agent, I don’t care. I tried to analyse the situation and explain my hypothesis but it seems like I wasn’t specific enough. Where did I say Krunic is as talented as Kjaer, Zlatan or Giroud? Try to re-read slowly.

        1. Krunic is grossly inadequate as a defensive midfielder for this team. The fact you sit and whine isn’t a surprise. He has no place in this team and he isn’t even good.

Dominguez isn’t a youngster. He’s 25 years old, you dolt. He has experience both club wise and internationally.

      2. I do think we will sign Esteve, Dominguez and Calafiori, and it appears more exits are being worked on. But if Colombo leaves, we may unexpectedly speed up a move for a striker too right now.

I don’t know what’s going on with Pioli or Krunic, and I don’t want Pioli fired. I still think he has a place here to guide this team. But Krunic needs to go. With all respect to him, he’s better suited for a different team. Maybe Genoa can save us lol. They are taking Messias. Or maybe Dzeko can try to convince him to go to Fenerbahce.

  1. There’s no need to sign another mid if Krunic stays. If we have leftover budget, it’s wiser to invest on a decent CB or a classic CF. From the past friendly matches, we can see clearly those depts need an reinforcement.

    1. There’s need to strengthen those areas you mentioned but in reality we cannot do all that this transfer cus of the spending already, a decent DM is more important right now, if Pioli can blend these players we’d be okay for next season.

  2. More pressing needs are the back. We definitely need another CB as the preseason games have shown. Tomori doesn’t look any better so far, and the jury is still out on Kalulu. Thiaw stays. Kjaer pretty much out. Leaves us with a lot of question marks.
