GdS: Milan eye €30m Celtic star and €25m Bologna defender as first two targets fade

By Oliver Fisher -

After closing the sale of Lucas Paqueta to Lyon for €20million, Milan are now on the hunt to secure a quality central defender.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri have prioritised the signing of a centre-back, but their main target in that sense – Wesley Fofana of Saint-Etienne – is on his way to Leicester for €40m.

Nikola Milenkovic remains too expensive at the same €40m price tag, meaning three tracks remain open: Kristoffer Ajer of Celtic, Takehiro Tomiyasu of Bologna and Matija Nastasic of Schalke 04.

The paper claims that Celtic are demanding €30m for Ajer to leave, a figure the management are not inclined to pay. Tomiyasu’s valuation is €25m, and the Rossoblu have already refused a €20m offer from Roma. The Rossoneri are not willing to pay the asking price, but it is unlikely to drop as the days pass.

Meanwhile, Schalke 04 have opened up to the sale of Matija Nastasic on loan with option to buy.
