GdS: Milan face dilemma regarding €38m investment – the three options on the table

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan face a dilemma regarding the future of Lucas Paqueta with three options on the cards for the midfielder, a report claims.

Paqueta is coming off the back of a tough campaign in which he failed to score in 27 appearances and was tried in multiple different positions.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan spent around €38.4m to buy him from Flamengo last January and it represents the most expensive investment made by Elliott Management so far.

To avoid a capital loss, Milan must sell Paquetà for at least €25million as that is his residual value on the balance sheet. At the moment, however, no club has come forward with such an offer and an outright sale is complicated.

The paper adds that it is more feasible to imagine Brazilian being included in a swap deal, while another solution could be the classic dry loan to allow him to try and grown at a team with less pressure, like how Suso did at Genoa.

The final option is that the 22-year-old could stay at Milan to try and earn his spot, but this appears to be the least popular as the Rossoneri want to focus on players capable of giving guarantees and consistency.
