GdS: Milan and Gabbia’s agent agree on strategy with Serie A loan likely

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s home-grown quota may take a further hit as Matteo Gabbia could follow Sandro Tonali out of the exit door, according to a report.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Gabbia’s future has never really been in doubt because he seems happy to accept the role of being fifth choice centre-back and serves an important purpose for the squad lists given he came through the academy.

However, it seems that Milan and the player’s agent have agreed that at 23 years old it is time for him to get more playing time after he was involved in just 12 games in 2022-23, with only six of them being as a starter.

It is not enough for a player who – at his age – needs to be more involved to grow and reach the level of being able to become a starter at Milan, where at the moment he can only be an alternative.

Milan’s idea is not to sell him but to loan him to a Serie A club. Sassuolo – with whom Milan are negotiating for Frattesi – are not an option. Salernitana could be, as they spoke with Milan.

    1. Not if he pushes to leave. And if all the homegrown players are to leave , or push to leave, that puts Milan in a situation

        1. Homegrown counting all italian club academy not only AC Milan academy. We have sportielo, mirante, calabria, florenzi, gabbia, pobega ,colombo . CL squad are consist 17 non homegrown player & 8 homegrown player total squad are 25 player . Thats why we want to sign frattesi ( home grown ) as tonali replacement also LB deputy must homegrown to replace ballotoure ( parisi or pasquale)

          1. WRONG!!!

UCL homegrown is divided into Club-homegrown (4 players) and Association-homegrown (4 players). Club-homegrown can be registered as Association-homegrown but Association-homegrown cannot be registered as Club-homegrown.
