GdS: Milan hatch interesting plan regarding renewal for Donnarumma – player wants to stay

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have devised a strategy of sorts regarding a renewal for prized young goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to a report.

Friday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) notes how Milan face a dilemma regarding a new deal for Donnarumma, whose current contract expires in 2021.

The Rossoneri have apparently been sending signals to the 21-year-old for weeks now and Gigio, for his part, has no intention of leaving.

The club would like to find an agreement as soon as possible: the intention of Milan is to convince Donnarumma to renew and then plan a long journey together. The main knot remains however the high salary he earns – €6m-a-year in his current deal.

An immediate long-term extension – perhaps until 2025 – appears very complicated, so the idea that circulates more insistently at Casa Milan is that of a renewal for a single year, with perhaps a small discount on the part of Gigio: a €5million salary plus some generous bonuses.

Donnarumma has never hidden the desire to remain in the Rossoneri, but it of course also depends on agent Mino Raiola who will not want to be seen taking a weak stance.
