GdS: Milan have a solid foundation but need two signings to reach the next level

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a solid foundation to build from but they must make two more signings to increase the level of the squad, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), the Rossoneri are in need of two purchases to fly even higher. Divock Origi has arrived but he is struggling with an injury, Yacine Adli has given good signs and Tommaso Pobega has been bright too, but the midfield and attack must be bolsters to try and defend the league and go further in the Champions League.

Charles De Ketelaere was not called up for Club Brugge against KRC Genk in the first game of the season, which means the negotiation is probably about to enter the final stages, and he would be a real boost for the trident.

Furthermore, if Milan added Renato Sanches as well as the Belgian, there would be no reason to set limits. The bases are there, and both the overall quality and the depth of the squad would increase with these two additions.

  1. ACM have a solid core, no doubt; this young project even went fruitful last season with an amazing scudetto achievement!
Yet, to really/ safely bring us to the next level -as I understand this is probably the European elite- we need more than two additions especially if we are talking for CdK and Sanches. Those two would be definitely towards the right direction, despite I feel that Sanches is a bit risky due to his injury history, but possibly not enough to really elevate the team.
This is where I feel this mercato is the most important one of the past decade as it has all the potentials to be the real turning point for ACM. Sign 2-3 proven quality players (I’d value Asensio as being one of them) and we can cement our scudetto winning bid in Italy and move one step further in ECL. Failing to do that (scudetto no19 hype doesn’t help) and we risk of building on the success of last year.
    In Maldini&Co we trust.
Ps: CdK is a very promising player and I truly hope we get him at the end, yet he may well need 1-2yrs to adjust and reveal all his true potentials.

  2. Why the hell will Milan offer 3.2m for Sanchez? That is poor for a mildfeilder of Sanchez calibre, if he takes 3.2 now for 5 years, how can he make more when he gets older (29/30)…this is not fair, sanchesz deserves atleast 4mil.

I don’t like this from Milan, this is a shame

    1. Couldn’t agree more. We have a chance to sign an excellent dynamic player in his prime for a cheap transfer fee (10+5 = 15M) and we are low balling him on his salary lol. No wonder he’s waiting for PSG. That’s an extra 1.3M/season. Who would pass that up? If we Just match PSG’s salary offer of 4.5M (which is in line with or wage cap) this deal would have already been done. We can’t pay transfer fees over 20M it seems yet when we have an opportunity to sign a STARTING caliber player in his prime For less than 20M – we try to skimp on the salary LOL. What a joke. Let me guess – we only value Sanches as a 3.2M player LOLOLOLOLO. Sad
