GdS: Milan have faith in €35m signing who must find a way to reinvent himself again

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management firmly believe in Rafael Leao and what he can bring to the club, a report claims, but he must adapt to yet another new role.

Wednesday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport noted that Leao was Milan’s most expensive summer signing, having paid €35million to sign him from from Lille.

However, the Portuguese starlet appears to have lost his spot in the starting XI due to the resurgence of Ante Rebic, who has been preferred on the left side with Stefano Pioli’s switch to a 4-2-3-1.

According to Sunday’s edition of the same paperPioli intends to use the same formation deployed on Thursday night in the Coppa Italia against Juventus moving forward.

Behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic, therefore, there will still be Rebic, Hakan Calhanoglu and Samu Castillejo. Leao will start on the bench once again, meaning the most expensive signing is once again without a role on the pitch.

The club believes a lot in the potential of Rafael, however he will have to be able to adapt to the new game system, perhaps as a left winger.
