GdS: Milan have two plans to secure dream defensive signing – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a plan to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic before the window shuts on October 5, according to a report.

Sunday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes that the Rossoneri are still looking at signing a defensive midfielder, but they first want to get a centre-back in to bolster that particular department.

Musacchio, Duarte and Gabbia do not currently offer the write assurances, and Fiorentina’s Milenkovic remains the priority for the management and for head coach Stefano Pioli.

At the moment, the distance between offer and demand is around €10m, but Milan have two plans to launch a final assault for the Serbian.

Firstly, passage into the group stages of the Europa League will bring a guaranteed extra €15m to the accounts, and secondly the sale of Lucas Paqueta to Lyon or another club would bring in over €20m, it is presumed.

The alternative is Kristoffer Ajer, who can leave Celtic for €20m. The elimination of the Scottish team from the Champions League preliminaries can facilitate the negotiation even more.
