GdS: Milan in a rush to lock star defender down to new contract amid Barcelona links

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will soon sit down with Mino Raiola to discuss a renewal for club captain Alessio Romagnoli, according to a report.

Romagnoli – who switched agents to Mino Raiola earlier in the season – is currently on a deal until 2022, which means that a crossroads may be on the horizon soon for the Rossoneri just as exists at present with Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future.

It was recently reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport that Romagnoli is expecting a pay rise in the new contract, with his current deal worth €3.5m-a-year. The paper stated that the Milan leadership are unlikely to cede to those demands, which has caused Atletico Madrid and Barcelona to hover.

According to what the same outlet are reporting now (via MilanNews), Milan consider Romagnoli as one of the pillars of the future who will have to be armoured in the coming months.

His renewal will soon be discussed so the club avoid finding themselves in a Donnarumma-type situation.
