CM: Atletico and Barca lurking as Milan are ‘unlikely’ to satisfy Romagnoli

Ivan Gazidis continues to work on lowering the wage bill. It won’t be easy for the Rossoneri CEO to implement this policy while keeping the team competitive. In fact, it could lead to the departure of two big stars.

In addition to Gigio Donnarumma, the renewal of captain Alessio Romagnoli has also been put on hold. Mino Raiola had started positive talks with Zvonimir Boban but the departure of the Croatian director risks affecting Milan a lot, per Calciomercato.com.

The defender is expecting a pay rise in the new contract, currently on a €3.5m-a-year-deal. Furthermore, the deadline would be extended by two years, from 2022 to 2024. However, it most likely won’t be as simple as this.

As the report continues, Gazidis is unlikely to satisfy the Rossoneri captain, wanting to lower the wage bill. Raiola isn’t enthusiastic about what AC Milan’s current ideas are and he’s also considering the idea of taking Romagnoli with him.

In Spain, the likes of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have made inquiries. Now, it’s up to Milan to decide whether they want to keep the player or sell him in the summer.
