GdS: Milan-linked striker one step away from joining Dortmund

AC Milan-linked striker Serhou Guirassy is very close to signing for Borussia Dortmund after the German side offered him a contract.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the Champions League finalists are close to securing the Stuttgart striker who netted 28 Bundesliga goals last season.

Milan were heavily linked with signing Guirassy in January but he opted to stay at Stuttgart, and then he has been viewed as one of the alternative targets to Joshua Zirkzee this summer, along with others like Lille’s Jonathan David.

Guirassy has been available for less than €20m so it would only have been a matter of time before someone signed him, and Dortmund have offered him the chance to be the starting striker in a league where he has already proven he has what it takes to succeed.

This news will not be of any serious concern to Milan as long as they are able to get the deal over the line for Zirkzee.

He will only cost €40m thanks to the release clause but if the interest from Manchester United proves to be too much of a problem, then Milan will have lost one of their best alternative targets to another team.

  1. Guirassy could have been a great depth option. A lot of bang for the buck in theory. Ju st not sure what that would mean for Okafor and Jovic. Or for that matter how Fonseca plans to use our forwards…

    1. I don’t think he would come to be a rotation option. Considering that Fonseca is obviously here to develop the young players, Okafor and Camarda will probably have consequent playing time and Jovic will still be around so I think we’ll sign only one striker.

      1. I agree with what you say. A player with his goalscoring statistics last season would hardly accept to spend half the time on the bench. Plus I doubt Milan are willing to spend money on 2 strikers. They might be open to get a second one on loan, like they might be interested in doing with Broja. But paying for 2 this summer, I doubt it.

      2. Milan should think to others target like victor boniface or jessic ngankam from bundesliga. They are osimhen typically.

        1. No they didn’t. You are reading sempremilan website which is biased. Guirassy was never heavily linked to Milan. There were never any offer on the table.

Most of the clubs have ‘marketing’ team which will try to get media talk/write about their club. One clear example is Manchester United. They are bang average club but their marketing is soo high. Since Cardinale’s takeover, unfortunately board seemed to choose the same path as Man United.

So I would suggest not to trust this website but rather check rumors from for example transfermarkt.com

        2. Nah – his transfer fee was too high; oops! I mean his agents commissions were too high; oops! I mean his salary demands were too high; Oops! I meant he’s too old and has no resale value; Oops I mean we don’t sign players until the last day or the window….sadly i can go on and on

Take your pick my friend lol

  2. So this guy is still in his prime, 1/4 of the cost of Zirkzee and we fiddled around over a signing bonus that equals or is 2 million less than this guy’s release clause?

They should have went for a sure thing and just signed this guy then told Z’s agent to go F himself.

If anything it gives us a solid option for 4 years and allows them to accumulate for a sure shot in future seasons. The big, huge, striker signing.

  3. i like guirassy, he is strong and matured. i guess dortmund were missing a striker of his level in the champ league final , now the window to get him beacons.

  4. Guirassy should put his brain in gear and shift his attention towards Tottenham. The fans would revere his position at no.9 as an heir to Harry Kane.In my opinion he would thrive in that environment and the Premier League is a lot tougher than the Bundesliga so perhaps he needs a new challenge. outside Germany.
