GdS: Milan must look to alternatives as Ibrahimovic will ‘almost certainly’ leave in June

AC Milan are ‘almost certain’ to be without striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for next season, according to a report.

The Swede’s return for a second spell with the Rossoneri was confirmed in January and since then he has had a big impact on the team’s fortunes, as they have lost just twice in 2020 so far.

Despite this, his contract only runs until June 30, and the departure of Zvonimir Boban – who was sacked for doing an unauthorised interview – and the chaos at corporate level which could see Paolo Maldini leave too means that the chances of a renewal are up in the air.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday (via MilanNews), Milan will ‘almost certainly’ face next season without the 38-year-old, who is destined not to renew his deal and will leave at the conclusion of the current campaign.

That means that the Rossoneri are likely to look for a replacement, and the same outlet are reporting that a Napoli striker could be on the shopping list.
