GdS: Milan open up to idea of Ibrahimovic renewal – when the Swede will return

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have opened up to the idea of giving Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new contract to keep him beyond the summer, according to a report.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday (via MilanLive), the Swede is unlikely to even make the subs bench for Sunday’s crucial clash with Roma at San Siro – not because of his own will but because the medical staff do not want to risk aggravating the injury in any way.

The news from Milanello filters that he will return for either the SPAL game (1st July) or Lazio (4th July). Ibra has an immense desire to play and help “his” Milan to gain a place in Europe.

Then at the end of the season it will be time to think about his future. The 38-year-old is currently unlikely to remain beyond the current season , but Ricky Massara’s recent statements  mean the club have – for the first time – publicly opened to a possible renewal.

The next face-to-face with meeting with CEO Ivan Gazidis will be decisive.
