AC Milan are planning to finally sell Mattia Caldara for good in the summer now that he is back at the club, a report claims.
As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian defender is now coming back to Milan after the season he has spent on loan at Spezia.
It was yet another disappointing season for the defender that Milan paid €34 million to Juventus for. He has not lived up to the hype, both in terms of performance and fitness. After a series of loans, his time at Milan will definitively come to an end this summer.
Given his contract expires in 2024, the club hope that they can still make some money from selling him. Any fee will be minimal, but it is better than paying him for another year and getting nothing in 2024.
Injuries have plagued his career but he will have hope of some continuity elsewhere with a permanent move.
Forgot we still have this guy on the books
Same
Wasn’t it the case that Bonucci moved in the opposite direction for the same amount so it’s almost a wash in terms of transfer fee?
The 35m fee isn’t quite the whole picture
yep it was like that
Yes, but that is the value on the books. Obviously that’s part of Juve’s scandal they were docked points for but it does now mean Caldara’s value remains about 7m on the books.
Which means the article is complete rubbish, because it’s nearly as good for Milan to loan him and let him leave for free as to let him leave for 5m or so. And no-one is going to pay, so honestly I don’t see a way Caldara leaves unless on loan or if Milan pay up 70%+ of his remaining wages.
Honestly he’s a solid backup. Should keep him and not invest a dime in CBs this year.
Or sell him and keep the four we already have.
But apparently we need a bigger squad than Man City….
The whole purpose of keeping him for me would be to loan outr gabbia if anything because if i remember correctly caldara earns in between 2-2.5 mil a year so selling him wont get us much to begin with, maybe a mil or two and no clubs would want to match his salary.
mighty not be the exact numbers but he has a fairly high salary just toi skip him offf to a mjid to bottom tier team with ease.
But that’s one less player for homegrown quota, no?
yeah gabbia has come from our own ranks but desserves a full season in a serie a team as he is stalling his development because he never plays but caldara would stilll count as an italian player but i was also just humoring Zoro Caloros suggestion.
Caldara Bonucci – plusvalenza agreement with juventus.
Just why would anyone in that time accepted to bring caldara for 40 million plus salary…
If I can recall correctly, Caladara at the time was the next big thing with huge upside and Bonucci was the seasoned veteran so that’s why it was a wash in some regards.
Last season, this guy looked so overweight and heavy. His pants were almost tearing apart every time he ran. I wonder if he is not following his diet or whatever lol.
If i were the Managera i woild cencel his Contract automatically.
Unless its a mutual agreement It would make no sense at all to just tearing up his contract as we would still have to compensate the player for the remaining part of his contract so in the end it will most likely make most sense to just send him out on a paid loan or sell him at a very low cost as he also has a high salary compared to the clubs that propaby could have an interest in signing him.
I kinda feel for the guy. He’s without a doubt one of the worst investments by Milan. His value has completely vanished and he’s “lost it” completely. It must be hard for him.
