GdS: Milan player ratings for Monza loss – several criticised after horror show

By Oliver Fisher -

A number of AC Milan players failed to take their chance to impress last night during the dramatic 4-2 defeat against Monza at the U-Power Stadium.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their ratings from the game, starting with Milan’s overall performance which got a 5 out of 10 and Stefano Pioli’s management which was given a 5.5.

The best player that the Rossoneri had was the substitute Christian Pulisic who came off the bench to set up Olivier Giroud’s goal and then scored his own to bring it back to 2-2, thus earning a 7.5.

The worst performer was Luka Jovic who got a 3. The Serbian forward was handed a rare start to let Giroud rest, and after an anonymous first half he decided to lash out at Izzo and got himself sent off.

Malick Thiaw was also disappointing in his first start for nearly three months with a couple of costly errors (4), while Noah Okafor and substitute Rafael Leao were given a 4.5.

A number of players received a 5 including Mike Maignan, Matteo Gabbia, Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer, Yacine Adli and Samuel Chukwueze, which highlights how the entire rhythm of the team was off.

Alessandro Florenzi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (6) were the only starters to get a passing grade, while Giroud got a 6.5 off the bench for his goal.
