GdS: Milan player ratings for win over Genoa – centre-back ‘a real wall’ but three players struggle

By Oliver Fisher -

It was a mixed bag of performances for AC Milan’s players during yesterday’s 2-1 win over Genoa at San Siro, as La Gazzetta dello Sport’s ratings have revealed.

The paper (via MilanLive) gives Simon Kjaer the title of Man of the Match and a score of 7 out of 10 as the Danish defender was concentrated and decisive, described as ‘a real wall’. His decisive block in the final stages on Masiello was worth the three points.

Kessie got a 6.5 as he dominated in the middle of the field and never failed to support defence and attack. The same was given to Ante Rebic as his goal gave Milan the lead, but the Croatian did miss a big chance to make it 2-0.

A 6 was given to Donnarumma and Tomori in the defensive phase. There was no stand-out save for Gigio who did make a blunder, while the Englishman did well but for losing Destro for the equaliser.

A 6 was also awarded to Bennacer who is still at a low pace and for his replacement Tonali, plus Alexis Saelemekers and Diogo Dalot. Theo Hernandez and Hakan Calhanoglu were among the less positive notes as they got a 5.5 in their ratings. Leao got a 4.5 rating as the Portuguese forward missed a couple of scoring chances.
