GdS: Milan player ratings for win over Juventus – playmaker shines; defender an ‘absolute leader’

By Oliver Fisher -

A number of AC Milan players received the expected praise after Sunday’s huge 3-0 win over Juventus on their home turf.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) this morning rewards practically all the Milan players who took part in last night’s games. Starting with the best, a score of 8 went to Brahim Diaz, who was the surprise of the night as the Spaniard scored a great goal, got the penalty that should have made it 2-0 and had an excellent match under pressure.

Simon Kjaer’s 7.5 follows the playmaker. He was unsurpassed and decisive for the Rossoneri defence and the Dane confirmed himself as the absolute leader. A score of 7 went to his team-mate Fikayo Tomori, who was less perfect in the defensive phase but scored his first goal for the club.

A 7 also went to Hakan Calhanoglu who was everywhere, both in possession and in retreat. Ante Rebic also got the same score, taking over from Ibra and doing what he had to do, that is to close the contest with the goal to make it 2-0.

There was a 6.5 for Donnarumma, who only had to make one important save. The same went to Calabria and Theo Hernandez who protected the side lanes without problems and to the usual dynamic Alexis Saelemaekers.

A 6 was awarded to Franck Kessie as he was dominant in the midfield but the error from the spot that risked calling the game into question weights heavy. Finally, a 5 was given to Zlatan Ibrahimovic who disappointed expectations as he seemed worried about Chiellini’s marking and spendt most of his time on the ground injured.
