GdS: Milan player ratings from Salernitana draw – ‘Maignan like Baresi, Leao looks sad’

By Oliver Fisher -

A number of AC Milan players have been criticised for their performance during last night’s lacklustre 1-1 draw against Salernitana at San Siro.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) has their ratings for the game, starting with the team’s overall performance and Stefano Pioli’s management which both scored a 5 out of 10 as more crucial points were dropped.

Milan’s man of the match was Mike Maignan as he made a decisive intervention to stop Dia and he earned a 7, while the player who struggled the most was Rafael Leao, getting a 4.5.

Pierre Kalulu was far from his best and scored a 5, though Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori only got half a mark more in what was a shaky defensive display from a normally watertight defensive unit.

Alexis Saelemaekers got a 5.5 while both Ismael Bennacer and Rade Krunic got a 6, with Theo Hernandez receiving a 6.5.

The attack struggled with Brahim Diaz getting a 5.5 in addition to the criticism aimed at Leao, with Olivier Giroud getting a 7 for his goal but the substitutes Charles De Ketelaere and Divock Origi receiving a 5. Zlatan Ibrahimovic got a 6.

  1. Leao needs to make up his mind and let the club know whether he is leaving or staying. Kessie may have betrayed the club, but at least he remained professional and reliable on the field until the end of last season. Leao is clearly distracted, and he’s letting the club down.
