GdS: Milan player ratings for Torino win – six players score 7 or more

By Oliver Fisher -

A number of AC Milan players have drawn praise for their performance during last night’s 4-1 win against Torino in the first home game of the new season.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their ratings from the game last night, starting with Milan’s overall performance which was given a 7.5 out of 10, as was Stefano Pioli’s management.

Christian Pulisic got the title of man of the match as he got his name on the scoresheet again, while Mike Maignan received the lowest score, though it was a 6.

Davide Calabria, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori each received a 6.5 for their defensive work, while Theo Hernandez got a 7 as he opened his account for the new campaign.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek earned a 7 too, as did his midfield partner Tijjani Reijnders, with Rade Krunic getting half a point less.

Olivier Giroud got a 7 for emphatically tucking two penalties away, while Rafael Leao got the same having provided a lovely assist for Theo.

Yunus Musah, Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze all came off the bench for the last half an hour, and each got a 6.

  1. Strange player Pulisic. Does practically nothing all match, except for a few very good actions. If he gets more involved, he should be creating 10 chances a match.

    1. Oh just admit you doom monger crystal ball crew were wrong. We’re going to fine. Yes, without M&M Tonali and Little Bo Peep.

      1. We won our first 2 games in 17/18 as well…

The only way this summer’s upheaval will prove worth it is if we finish 4th or higher (I’ll give you 4th because we technically finished 5th last season), and get to at least the knock out stages of the Champions League (I won’t set it higher than that because it’ll depend on the draw).

It’s going to be a long season but I would say if any players do struggle, or results don’t go our way, please show some patience.

    2. LOL. He was fully involved in the attack, including in build up play throughout. Yet “practically does nothing all match”.

The man could walk on water, but then you’d claim that’s nothing because he couldn’t move entire mountains.

    3. Pulisic is probably the player I was happiest about signing this summer.

I’d say he’s been excellent and provides the perfect balance to Leao.

  2. Thanks for being a good fans with good comments 😊

True, even with these good results we must remember there are a lot of things that can be improved and the new group need patience.

And compared to 2017/2018 we actually have clear idea going forward right now. The first two matches were against Crotone and Cagliari, and after that we lost against Lazio 1-4. And we lost almost all our matches against big clubs in first half of that season… So as I said before the season starts if we at least got 6 wins from 10 first matches we’re off to a good start.
