GdS: Milan plotting future move for Jonathan David after late bid failed

By Oliver Fisher -

The transfer window has closed, but Milan’s lights are already pointing towards their next target: Lille’s Jonathan David.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan actually made a late move for Jonathan David on Thursday evening, trying for a loan deal. David has always been admired by the management and he would be a top signing, certainly not an emergency solution.

It proved to be impossible to pull off the operation with such little time left, but his contract expires in 2025 and Milan’s late move shows that between January and June they will try again in view of next summer.

Since he started playing professionally he has scored 95 goals for his various club sides. He is the second-top scorer for the Canadian national team after Cyle Larin with 25 goals.

In 2021 he won the Ligue 1 title and the Super Cup with Lille. In 2019, he was the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League with 18 goals. He has also already scored twice in three league games this season.

        1. He is CF. Osi is the best CF of the league. Lautaro is the second best cf of the league…
David scored some goals in the french league.. I bet if i go into his stats the most goals he scored is against weak teams

  1. If they deemed him as good, and the price is reasonable (30-40m?) I don’t see why not.

But it’s too early to talk about him, the transfer window only just closed less than 24 hours ago 😂

    1. LOL. No they didn’t friend. And you really think David is better than M’Bappe, Oshimen, etc….😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

David is a fine player for Ligue 1 but unproven anywhere else and flopped at the WC. He would have lots to prove of we moved for him and not sure he’s the best fit in our system. But alas we won’t spend 40-60M on any player so no need to get your hopes up and he’s not a FA until 2025…

  2. I’m not sure a striker like this is going to cost 30 or 40 million! It mostly depends on the interest of The English clubs and on whether they will play another good season at Lille. I believe its price next season could be at least 60 million, and that’s already some other dimension and I’m not sure it fits our business strategy. For such an acquisition, the club’s management would probably have to sacrifice one of our significant players again !
