GdS: Milan target PSG and Chelsea strikers as possible Colombo replacement

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have two names from PSG and Chelsea that could be targeted should they decide to loan Lorenzo Colombo out to a new team this summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), the Milan management are trying to make a decision when it comes to Colombo as he is the only natural striker they have behind Olivier Giroud.

Given he has not impressed too much in pre-season, they may send him out on another loan, with Genoa the main option.

That would mean bringing in another striker to rival Giroud upfront, and the two primary names are Armando Broja at Chelsea and Hugo Ekitike at PSG.

Ekitike would cost around €20m so Milan must see whether PSG would open up to a loan. A deal for Broja would be simpler as they would allow a loan to happen.

He is recovering from a serious knee injury so there is no guarantee of immediate impact there.

      1. Probably Milan side why because the player was out for long time and he’s 21 yrs old like wtf. Eketike on the other side in stade de rems he play well as ST so he could be positive option. But I’ll recommend Santiago Gimenez from Feyernoord

  1. I have to admit that I don’t understand these permanent loans for Colombo! If the boy has not satisfied the professional staff so far, then he never will.

    1. Why not? The boy is just 21. The threshold for most is 22-23. Then it is easier to decide. But of course there is Luca Toni.

    2. He wants it. Pioli wants him to stay but he’s adamant on leaving on loan, at this point Giroud should be the 3rd option, not Colombo

  2. I think we were linked to Broja a couple of windows ago, so this isn’t exactly new. However, he’s just recovered from knee injury as stated, which isn’t ideal at all. Even if it’s a loan with option, why should we take the gamble? What we need is a fit, reliable striker who would take over from Giroud, allowing him to come in as impact sub.

IMHO, as things stands, if we’re to progress further, we need to sign players who would challenge/displace the current starting lineup, otherwise we shouldn’t bother.

  3. Broja is massively overrated and has just come off major surgery, not to mention him and his entourage snubbed us in the past, rather leave that Albanian where he is. Ekitike is a good idea in theory, but the truth is he’s been far from consistent, he is still very young though so there is room for growth. Both are high risk options in this case.

  4. Source GDS . Skip , not reliable media. We dont need striker that not playing for half year like broja , leave him at chelsea . If want to invest better on balogun or elyi wahi for young striker . Too bad we miss velis

  5. I’m not sure that any of these is an improvement on Origi.

I might say different when he gets injured during warmup on the third game.

  6. I still think getting Lukaku on the cheap(only and not on his terms) for a year wouldn’t be madness. Doubt Furlani would go for it though.
