GdS: Milan expect Thuram’s decision soon – Porto striker emerges as alternative

AC Milan are expecting a decision from Marcus Thuram this week but there are already some alternative targets lined up, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) confirms that this is the week in which Thuram should choose which club he joins when he leaves Borussia Mönchengladbach upon the expiry of his contract on June 30.

There are two clubs in the running above all, with Milan being one of them but the other being PSG. The Ligue 1 side were the first to move concretely and offered him a big salary, but the Rossoneri management believe they can convince the Frenchman.

From an economic point of view the most logical choice is undoubtedly PSG, but with Milan he would have the opportunity to play more and perhaps become the starter. Thuram is reflecting, and a decision on his future is expected in the next few days.

If he were to choose Paris, then there are alternatives ready such as Gianluca Scamacca on a loan deal and even Mehdi Taremi, the 30-year-old Porto striker whose contract expires in 2024.

    1. He is also 30 years old, has a contract expiring in 1 year and is worth 20M. Porto would probably take 15M but Milan will not pay that for a 30 year old. Maybe next year when he is free 😀

        1. I feel with the strategy Milan have taken they are behind the big clubs of Europe once again

Milan won the scudetto last year and now have taken 2 step back this year

Next season well, have a look at the roster Chelsea have and they have not stopped buy
Instead Milan are trying to loan deals from Chelsea players

All I can say to this is someone please HELP!

          1. Erm, yes, but Chelsea are an absolute laughing stock because of how much they’ve spent. Not to mention their revenue is more than double Milan’s.

You need to adjust your thinking about what Milan is in 2023 I’m afraid. It’s a club without a state owner, not in the Premier League and operating under financial scrutiny due to the mess up by previous owners. Think in the same way as Dortmund, not Bayern.

          2. Laughing stock, for who? Idiots maybe. They purchased a full team in 1 season, players under the age of 20. Full team. So, they literally invested for the next 2-5 years. Fernández, Fofana, Mudryk, Badiashile, Madueke, Gusto, Chukwuemeka, Andrey Santos, David Fofana, Gabriel Slonina + Casadei last year. All under 23, I didn’t mention the players that are older. If you’re an idiot you are laughing at that. They have the best possible situation to develop those players with the right coach and buy 1-2 players per season and be around the top every season. Chelsea couldn’t spend that much if they weren’t smart and creative, you are delusional, nothing to do with Premier League. They have avoided the FFP by being smart, any other club could have done it in the same way, and giving 7 year contracts to top young talents is not stupid. Only complete idiots laugh at them…

          3. @Martin. Spending half a billion in one summer technically ought to take anyone to the top. Only 2-3 clubs can do that. Stop comparing us to those 2-3 clubs. Anyway, time will tell. It took Man City 15 years and TWO BILLION spent to finally win the CL since the petro-state took them over.

          4. Who compared anything? You are talking complete nonsense because you seem to not understand anything. So, you tell me that Milan couldn’t spend extra 100M last summer and cover all positions, but disperse that amount over 6, 7 or 10 years, so 10ishM a year? Are you serious? This is how Chelsea did it, not because they had 600M to spend in 1 season. Milan could have done that easily last summer and completed the team with a few more 30M signing, you know Botman and some other targets, and later just spend 30-50M a year for 1 good player and maybe some talents. Nobody said Milan had to spend 500M, but spending 50-100M more would almost complete the team. First you need to understand how it works then talk crap, I can you have no idea. ANY CLUB COULD HAVE DONE A SIMILAR THING.

        2. If we are going after a 30 year old id rather it be ZAPATA from Atalanta who’s in last year of his deal and avail for 15M. What a mess lol

  1. I would get Taremi over Failmacca any day. He can actually score goals, 15+ goals in the domestic championship for the past 4-5 seasons. But I don’t see Milan paying 15-20M for a 30-year-old player. Porto will not give him away.

  2. Thuram would be great, he could also line up at LW as he sometimes does with France, when Leao is resting.

We could read recently that he was fan of Milan when growing up, which is weird since his dad was playing for Juventus.

    1. And what, they should sign Failmacca because he is Italian? To do what, get more tattoos and not score goals? Buying deadwood because he is Italian is stupid.
