GdS: Milan player ratings from Inter loss – Leao and Brahim praised as defence struggle

By Oliver Fisher -

Not many AC Milan’s players can hold their heads high after last night’s 3-0 Coppa Italia semi-final second leg defeat against Inter last night.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport carries their player ratings for the game at San Siro, starting with the team’s overall grade which was a 5 out of 10 for a performance in which the forwards couldn’t finish and the defence was breached. Stefano Pioli got a 5.5.

The man of the match for the Rossoneri was Rafael Leao who got a 6.5 and at least managed a couple of shots on target, while Fikayo Tomori (4.5) was the worst performer. Mike Maignan (6), Davide Calabria (5.5), Pierre Kalulu (5.5) and Theo Hernandez (6) complete the defence.

Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali both got a 6 for their performance in the double pivot while Franck Kessie got the same, though Alexis Saelemaekers and Olivier Giroud received a 5 for their failure to really affect the game (bar a volley from the Belgian that was well saved).

Brahim Diaz got a 6.5 after looking bright off the bench, Junior Messias got a 5 and Rade Krunic got a 5.5.

  1. Leao ,what a great talent, gets an 8 from me on talent, but he is lazy as crap when he loses the ball, no trying to get the ball back from him, just mopes aroung for 5 – 10 seconds so for desire/effort he gets a 1, overall 4.5 rating, Pioli needs to crawl up his yang yang and explain you gotta be way more tougher to be a star, only the casual fan does not see him dragging along
