GdS: Milan player ratings for Venezia win – Pulisic the best; captain Theo responds

Following a tough start to the season, AC Milan bounced back in the best way possible with a comfortable 4-0 win against Venezia on Saturday evening. Christian Pulisic was one of the key players, praised along with several of his teammates.

After just 29 minutes, Milan had already scored four goals and were able to see out the game with ease. Given this efficiency up front, the attackers were heavily praised by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below).

Pulisic, who bagged a goal and a nice assist, was the best according to the pink newspaper with a 7.5/10 rating. It was especially impressive given that he returned late from international duty, showing up just when Milan needed him.

For once, the ‘worst’ Milan player on the pitch still got a pass at 6/10, namely Emerson Royal. He struggled at times against Francesco Zampano but in the end, it was a solid display from him which is something we also highlighted in our player ratings.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s ratings

7.5: Christian Pulisic.

7: Theo Hernandez, Youssouf Fofana, Rafael Leao, Tammy Abraham, Paulo Fonseca.

6.5: Matteo Gabbia, Strahinja Pavlovic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders.

6: Mike Maignan, Emerson Royal, Alvaro Morata, Yunus Musah, Noah Okafor.

  1. The thing I liked is seeing Leao play more defense. When you play better teams Milan is going to need more of that. As Liverpool favors the right side in attack, Milan needs to stop the first pass on the right to break the lines.
