AC Milan need to ensure that they offer a reaction to the Monza defeat when they take on Atalanta in Serie A this weekend, with their third-place finish in Serie A under threat.
As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta are Milan’s biggest threat when it comes to third place, a position that the Rossoneri could all but wrap up if they beat La Dea at San Siro on Sunday evening.
Milan have got a seven-point lead over Atalanta, but Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have got a game in hand. If they beat Milan for the third time this season and then win their game in hand, suddenly that gap is down to just one point.
That is one reason to produce a great performance, but the other is that Milan were seriously disappointing in their last Serie A game against Monza, losing 4-2 at the U-Power Stadium.
They have to show why they have what it takes to not only secure third place, but also move above of Juventus in second, an opportunity that was missed against Monza.
It would be a statement to beat Atalanta given they are in sterling form right now, winning their last five matches in Serie A whilst scoring plenty of goals.
I’m not too optimistic about beating Atalanta as they are in stellar form. Feels like CDK will score against us given our defensive problems this season. He looks like he’s finally firing on all cylinders.
We do need to beat them for pride though. Two losses in a row. Wouldn’t want them to turn into another Inter jinx.
After scoring, does anyone think CDK opts NOT TO celebrate against the team who owns him (like Colombo)? 🙂

Monza game was crucial. We’re only 7 points clear of Atalanta but they played one match less. After the weekend, if we don’t beat them, third place is no longer firmly in our hands.
Monza game WAS NOT crucial. Top4 isn’t going anywhere. We are NOT winning the league. And the difference between 2nd and 3rd isn’t that big financially. There are 13 games to go. Juve WILL drop more pts. Atalanta WILL drop points.
Not dropping out in EL IS CRUCIAL.
Well second place is important since the supercoppa is worth like 20M.
We need to win against Atalanta I’m tired of losing to mid table clubs when our rivals inter are steamrolling the league. We are AC MILAN we are one of the best clubs the world has ever seen.
