GdS: Probable XIs for Milan vs. Sampdoria – Tomori returns; Calabria at left-back

By Oliver Fisher -

The games continue to come thick and fast for AC Milan and they have another commitment on Sunday at lunchtime as they face Sampdoria at San Siro.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) Mike Maignan will be in goal with Alessandro Florenzi expected to play over Davide Calabria at right-back, with the latter shifting over to the left side to cover for the suspended Theo Hernandez. The returning Fikayo Tomori and captain Alessio Romagnoli will be the centre-backs.

Sandro Tonali and Franck Kessie expected to start in the double pivot with Ismael Bennacer therefore on the bench. In attack Olivier Giroud should be the striker supported by a trident of Alexis Saelemaekers on the right, Rafael Leao on the left and Brahim Diaz as the No.10.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Kessie; Messias, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

Probable Sampdoria (4-3-1-2): Audero; Bereszynski, Ferrari, Colley, Murru; Candreva, Ekdal, Thorsby; Sensi; Giovinco, Caputo.

  1. Conti scored 2 goals in 3 games by coming off the bench & retarded Gianpaolo still ain’t planning to start him?

No wonder he got sacked from Milan.

  2. Am dreaming or what? Is this not the sensi who Betrayed milan and join inter, look how where he is now playing, inter deem him not even fit for their bench and threw him out.
milan management should not have sold kerkez who can grow like theo been his backup now using calabria who is right back to play left back becaue theo is suspended, many time milan use calabria a left he struggle milan look like one man down

  3. Idris, you obvious don’t follow Serie A too closely. We have a natural left back for Theo, his name is Fode Ballo-Toure, but he is injured, so we need to draft in an emergency stand in. Most clubs don’t carry three players per position. As to Sensi, he’s coming off of two years of constant injury problems and needs consistent game time to get back into the swing of things, so he and his club probably decided a 6 month loan to Sampdoria would do well. He scored a goal for Inter right before he left and is already scoring for Sampdoria. He is a seriously talented player and one for us to respect in the upcoming match.

    1. Vero, you obviously don’t follow Milan too closely. Have you watched a single game of Fode Ballo-Toure’s? I would have preferred to see how Kerkez did in top flight than watch Fode be so painful. He is like Bakayako: Fode can be very fast, Bakayako can be very strong, but neither of them are good at anything else

      1. agree ,Ballo Toure and Bakayoko are one in the same, like having your teeth pulled, both of them are indecisive and unsure when receiving or passing the ball, shy away from 50/50s…..I will take Calabria all day long, he knows how to advance the ball as well.

  4. It obvious that we some good talent in the academy but is like milan dnt believe they deserve a chance in the first team.
vero when you talk about emergency can’t see this is the reason why milan should have kept kerkez believe it in two years that guy would be worth 40 million or more, we kept selling our academy player who have potential like always and you talk of one ballo-toure who keep disapointing and is as young as kerkez who can play for milan for more than 10 years. Calabria we see today is a academy player, if he was not given chance how can he reach where he is today. Milan didnt even add buyback clause for a talent like kerkez come on vero are you a milan fan at all.
