GdS: Milan unable to secure Schalke youngster amidst €4m distance – the latest

By Isak Möller -

As there are just a few days left of the transfer window, it appears AC Milan could head into the remainder of the season without a defensive reinforcement. A few names have been mentioned, but the feasibility is not there.

Fikayo Tomori is currently injured and could possibly make it back for the derby against Inter, but that’s very uncertain. Simon Kjaer is also out, as we know, and that means Alessio Romagnoli is the only experienced centre-back available.

A defensive reinforcement was thus expected by many this month, but it seems Milan could opt against that. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), one of the players that have been linked with the club is Malick Thiaw, but the distance is too big.

Schalke want around €10m to part ways with the youngster this month and Milan have offered just €6m. It’s a significant distance and unless the German side decides to lower their claims, the deal cannot go through.
