GdS: Milan’s ice man Kessie proving to be unique in competitive anger and infallible composure

By Oliver Fisher -

While other players in the AC Milan squad are suffering from inconsistency, Franck Kessie remains a constant with his reassuring presence.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes (via MilanNews), Kessié is always there, at home or away, on weekends or during the week, he is showing himself to be total and complete player, unique because of his competitive anger and technical characteristics. He is described by the paper as the first to fight and the last to surrender, which was seen last night. He is also an infallible penalty taker; the ice-cold man who waits and seizes the moment.

The Ivorian knows how important it is to squeeze every point from the season, even on the most complicated nights, because the fight for a top four spot is crowded and every result counts. He has scored eight penalties out of nine taken this season, plus he has one goal from open play (in the return game against Udinese). ‘Hurricane Franck’ – as La Gazzetta calls him – is always on the spot, as a true president should be.

It is thanks to Kessie that Milan saved themselves from yet another defeat in this very hard beginning of 2021. “It is two points lost,” the midfielder said after the match, demonstrating some dissatisfaction. Now, he is already thinking about the next battle against Verona.
