GdS: Milan’s interest in Lukaku is real – talks with Chelsea and player’s entourage ongoing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are serious about signing Romelu Lukaku and have opened talks both with his entourage and with Chelsea, a report claims.

Today’s La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes that Milan’s move for Lukaku ‘wasn’t just a disruptive move’ as the Rossoneri management spoke with Chelsea and not just with the Belgian’s entourage.

They have also formulated a real offer for the Belgian too, believing that he would be a great fit for Stefano Pioli’s system and style despite the fact that at 30 years of age and with a high salary he goes against the grain of the project.

Steven Zhang and the Inter management have understood that another loan for Lukaku will not be possible, which came from Chelsea themselves in talks with the player’s entourage.

A figure of €40m is needed to sell, and at the moment it feels like Lukaku has two concrete options for his future: Milan (which he excludes at the moment on principle) and Al Hilal, who have proposed a three-year contract worth €30m net per season.

Lukaku knows that his stay at Inter is now complicated but Marotta and Ausilio will make further attempts. The former Manchester United man wants to go back to Inter and he doesn’t see himself wearing the Rossoneri shirt, but he needs concrete signals.

In short, he would like Inter to show the same willingness to keep him as the one he showed 12 months ago to return to the club. Otherwise he is ready to consider other hypotheses, and he wants to stay in Europe. All while Milan push concretely.

  1. Moneyball-finding. No doubt about it. The algorithms don’t lie! Selling Lukaku (to Inter?) in the summer 2025 for twice as much will be great business.

    1. Roc Nation might be playing a role in this, if it’s even true.
Lukaku is represented by them and they are Milan’s partner

  2. Better than Morata but pass his prime and 2 expensive.
Bit interesting tho.. an “old” ST is ok but SMS would be outside the project bounds?

    1. Exactly it’s rediculous.

SMS is younger and better, yet deemed “outside the parameters ” of the project. Inconsistent drivel so far, from management that are learning how selling tonali and sacking Maldini has more costs outside of money.

Players won’t rush to join a sinking ship. And so far that’s the impression we’re giving

  3. he is a big game SITTER,I still remember the block that he made vs city and sevilla..Id rather give colombo and nasti a chance..hey POLI where are you? still hiding?

  4. Skip , already 30 years old and cost 40m euro . Even IM choose marcus over him . He wont agree moving to ACM too , dont waste time negotiate with him

  5. The only reason I would like this deal to happen is to see how shameless & dishonourable players of this generations are.
After talking ill of US for years & professing his love for inter over & over again, I would love to see how he would shamelessly be kissing our badges too😂
Also it will also make up for loosing Thuram to Inter but preferably, I would prefer Milan go to get Muaro Icardi who is a better striker.

  6. C’mon guys, I don’t even know if the rumour is true.

But, I think in all honesty Lukaku is more lethal than Thuram.

But, only if he is used properly, and that is where I doubt Pioli’s credentials.
Lukaku is an elite striker, can hold the ball, can play backing the goal post, that’s the kind of profile we need (don’t misconstrue this, I’m not saying we need Lukaku).

Lukaku under Conte vs Lukaku under Inzaghi shows clearly that a coach’s setup is fundamental in players functionality.
Inzaghi for most part of the season couldn’t get the best out of him, and that has also been the problem at Milan, when you see these players play international matches, you begin to wonder why the appear so weak at Milan.

    THE COACH.

    1. Lakaku holds a lot more guarantees the Thuram and the psychology over the Inter players will make for compelling viewing.

Adding to this if Ibrahimovic was to take Maldini’s role!!!

Just thinking about gives you goosebumps

      1. Lol
Can’t imagine it… Zlatan invites Lukaku to the Director’s office just to tell him “I’m still God, I’m still number one, I’m the God of Milan”

        😅😅😅
        Only one Zlatan

  7. How can we afford his 7m per season or whatever it is when we can’t afford Thuram?

Scamacca and Icardi are my favourites, in that order.

    ……Morata inbound.. f@ck Cardinale

  8. Lukaku said no. Nobody is joining Milan if there is a different choice. Dude will rather go to Saudi Arabia than sign for Milan.

  9. O know what is happening Lukaku will not be a success,,.his form is not good ,he may have speed and strength, but lacks technical ability of Oliver Giroud..
So yes we need help to support Giroud ,but not to replace him ,,,sadly Thuram would have been ideal and is reliable ..So please get the correct help ,,again not Morata ,,,so unfit and injury prone ..
I think Olivier Giroud will still be our main man next season whoever comes in ,you can’t replace the class of Olivier Giroud..He has had two very good seasons for us ,and no reason why he can’t have another one for both us and his country France
What we desperately need is a strong tall fast midfielder as we lack height in that department..
So who are we actually going to sign .

  10. Moneyball finds players who are athletic but fails to identify mental and psychological factors. Lukaku misses chances because he has inhumanly slow reaction time and doesn’t have the cognitive ability to make up for that by anticipating situations before they occur. He is devoid of personality and doesn’t seem to learn anything from past mistakes. He will never be good.
