GdS: Morata getting ‘closer and closer’ to Milan – a €32m package is ready

AC Milan continue to be linked with a move for Alvaro Morata with increasing existence and an offer has been made, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write that Morata is getting ‘closer and closer’ to joining Milan. He is ready to leave Atletico Madrid and the idea of returning to Italy and joining the Rossoneri has convinced him.

The choice to go for Morata comes from the desire to sign a striker with guaranteed performance levels. The former Juventus has never been a prolific scorer but he seems to always net 10-15 goals per season.

He knows how to work for his team-mates too, acting as a playmaker of sorts which can bring the wingers in like Rafael Leao and potentially Samuel Chukwueze too, and the Spaniard and loves Italy.

He met his wife Alice in Milan and one of his four children was born in Turin. Morata has already been close to wearing the Rossoneri shirt several times in the past too, such as during the Chinese ownership.

Even the recent choice to renew his contract with Atletico was aimed at facilitating a return to Italy. He has a €20m clause in his contract but there is the possibility that he leaves for €12m including taxes, and he has told Milan he would take €5m net per season.

There could be another assist for Milan too. If the tax experts’ checks lead to confirmation that the centre-forward has the requisites to take advantage of the Growth Decree, then it would further reduce the outlay on his four-year deal.

Milan are moving to get ahead of Juventus too because they are evaluating Morata’s return if Dusan Vlahovic really were to leave, which the management know.

Saudi side Al Ettifaq have set their sights on the 30-year-old too and have presented Morata with a very high offer but the idea of leaving Europe does not appeal to him.

  1. From Arnautovic for cheap to Morata for 32M, what an upgrade over M&M this new front staff is. I’m so glad we got a lot of money from Sandro’s sale to spend it on Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic and Morata. It would be funnier to actually gather the money available, splash it with gasoline and start a fire. Please Saudi Arabia save us.

      1. He’s a big gamble anyway. If he’s so good why is there no competition for him? Lyon reportedly made an offer of 25M but they are under scrutiny from the French League because of their bad financial situation (they will need the agreement from the League before they can spend a dime) and so far they have only recruited two guys for less than 10M, so I don’t believe their offer was concrete. Chelsea and Lyon have American owners, Lyon sold Malo Gusto to Chelsea last winter, they have a good relationship, maybe Chelsea asked Lyon to start a fake auction. Anyway Chelsea didn’t need any outside help to loot us with Loftus-Cheek.

        1. Speaking about no competition for a player.
          From Moncada’s Interview from 2020.

          “On Theo Hernández:
“He is a player we know from Atlético Madrid’s U17/U19. It was a work that lasted 4-5 years. And the opportunity to get him came when he was in a bit of trouble at Real Madrid, who had just picked up Ferland Mendy. We had seen his games as a young man, his progress at Real Sociedad on loan and we had talked to his agents. Theo is a train. He destroys the left wing. In today’s football the fullbacks are like that and we want them like that. The modern football in a great team has to be a train, to run a lot like crazy. We were already following him at Atlético Madrid and then at Real Madrid and then he went on loan to Real Sociedad and I said to myself how is it possible that no one is interested in him?’  And the truth is that we didn’t have much competition when we got him.”

          1. Yeah thanks for this, Moncada really had a crystal ball on Theo, he absolutely turned into a train. But he needed time to develop, like Kalulu, Kessié, Bennacer, Tonali, Leao, and that’s the kind of players we are looking for, again! We’re back a few years ago, with the project to discover young promising players and wait while they develop. That’s a step back from recent expectations, such as winning the UCL, but hopefully Moncada can find some gems again.

  2. For that money you can’t get a better player. Once again, he definitely isn’t worse than Giroud, so everyone should be really happy since usually Giroud is described as amazing…

    1. Giroud for 2m is defenitely s lot better than Morata for 32m. That being said it is not an unfair price and he is a striker with s bit of a playmaking touch which is important should we decide to really go for 4-3-3

  3. whose gonna fire the management when all this mercato doesnt pan out? They cant fire themselves lol, just gonna blame pioli and fire him when RLC, Pulisic, and Morata are all injured 1/2 the season

    1. That is a big issue but Morata is rarely injured. RLC was injured more than average but Pulisic is way over the top in the last 3 seasons, he is injured every few months.

  4. As much as I like the other potential (and confirmed) deals so far like Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, Chukwueze, Reijnders, etc…. this is one of the worst I can remember in recent memory. 25 MILLION?!? For this clown who is one of the worst strikers I’ve ever seen, already in his 30s, never hit double digits in his career. I would rather spend 30 million plus Origi for Scamacca than this guy. Wtf.

    1. Since the 19/20 season he hit double digits every single season and not many of those are penalties. Statistically he is more dangerous than he „feels“

  5. RLC and Pulisic are offered same salaries as our stars Theo and Bennacer have, while Morata even more. And Mike is on 3.6 millions per season. Fair enough.

  6. this is a joke! so this is what furlani and moncada can come up with? a frickin morata?! Id rather bet on colombo than playing this goalless striker smh..POLI where are you? come out come out from your cave

  7. I see team that is Repeating its failed decesions and that is not going to get any success another origi signing.
Folish to see the un readable Milan signing morata means no future and no win and even loss of money without futire sale
Last we failed because of lack of No 10
We repeat the same means the management and the coach are insane
Look they sign loftus and ignired Kamada

  8. If we’re spending this much I’d rather take a chance on Scamacca. Morata isn’t getting any better and will be on the decline.

  9. Atlético president to #DeportesCope: “We have no news on Morata’s situation. I don’t think he will go to Italy”

    Thank God.

  10. Morata lol. Let’s face it the only reason we are after him and not another younger striker like Balgoun or Openda is because they cost 50M and Morata is less than half that amount.

Remember we will not spend more than 30M on any transfer so our options are limited – hence the average Morata.

Spend 25M on this 31 yr old average player that we will have to replace in 2 years and will have no resale value or spend 45-50M and get a young striker that we can keep for the next 5 years WITH resale value????

It’s funny how quick we drop our YOUTH policy and go after a 31 year old decent player just to avoid spending that large transfer fee. Wonderful.

Can’t say I’m excited about this transfer but this is what we are left with from Redbird.
