GdS: Mutual desire for Maldini to remain at Milan as director lays down conditions to stay

By Oliver Fisher -

Paolo Maldini has laid out some conditions if he is to remain at AC Milan as a director beyond the summer, according to a report.

After Boban’s farewell, the future of Maldini is now under doubt too with some outlets claiming he is likely to follow his former team-mate out of the exit door.

According to Wednesday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Maldini wishes to remain at Milan but wants the guarantee of participating in crucial decisions both in terms of the market and in the choice of the head coach, and for his role to be respected.

Elliott Management has never questioned his role, despite not appreciating his words about Ralf Rangnick, while CEO iVAN Gazidis also continues to believe in him and aims at his permanence so that the Milanese within the club is not reset, but the final decision is up to the former captain only.

After recovering from the coronavirus, which also affected his son Daniel, Maldini has returned to work and is trying to better manage this emergency. As soon as everything is settled, it is clear that there will be a meeting with the ownership because there is a need for clarification on everything that has happened in the past few weeks.

There are many issues to be addressed, including his future at Milan, which for now is still quite uncertain.
