GdS: New contract for striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the plans of Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan plan to try and reach an agreement with striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a new deal in the coming weeks, a report claims.

The future of the Swede has been the subject of intense speculation over the last few days amid various reports claiming he could retire, join another club in Italy or even join Hammarby – the team in his home country which he owns 25% of.

It was recently reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport that Ibrahimovic in fact has no intentions of retiring and instead wishes to play the final season of his career with Milan to help them achieve a top four finish.

According to Friday’s edition of the same outlet (via MilanNews), the desire is indeed mutual as Milan have Ibrahimovic’s renewal on their list of objectives ahead of next season.

His contract with the Rossoneri expires on 30 June and it will of course be necessary to discover the player’s will during a meeting with the club, but the club’s hierarchy understand the importance of the 38-year-old.
