Rafael Leao recently committed his future to AC Milan with a contract extension and he should soon confirm a change in squad number too.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes how the last ten days have been a whirlwind of emotions for Leao. First he signed a contract signed until 2028, then he set his own single-season record for goals at Milan, then Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara left and a number change should also come.

The paper states that Leao – in the negotiations for the renewal of his contract – expressly asked for the No.10 in the event of Diaz’s farewell. With Brahim Diaz returning to Madrid, the Portuguese winger should take up the vacated number.
It is an iconic number not only in football in general but especially at Milan, given that the likes of Seedorf, Rui Costa and earlier Gianni Rivera have worn it. Now, Leao must prove that he is ready to become a Rossoneri great, as so many think he can.
I have a feeling that the best transfer of the season for Milan will be the number 10 transfer.
