Reports are continuing to mount regarding Newcastle United’s serious interest in signing Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Newcastle declared their interest a few days ago and while they have not yet submitted a formal written offer, they made it known they are willing to pay €50-60m to sign the Italian.

That is a figure that could increase in the next few hours too and it would provide Milan with the money to reshape the squad in a big way in the upcoming summer window.
Tonali’s will at this point becomes fundamental because Newcastle’s offer is €8m net per season, over three times what he gets currently. However, the Rossoneri are his boyhood club and one with whom he achieved a dream.
He would move to a very rich team for more money, but one that still has to prove that they can win trophies and would live in a city that is not Milano. These reflections will guide the process towards a final decision.
Chelsea have also let Milan know that they are interested in Tonali and have spoken of an offer that would include money and players, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic admired by Milan.
There is an ongoing negotiation between Chelsea and Brighton for Moises Caicedo though, who is at the top of their list.

8m is pre-tax, his 2.5m salary is post tax. It is pretty much double but it’s not triple.
Not that it matters, it’s crazy money and you can’t blame him if he wants to take it.
i most def can blame him.. if money is all he wants, while he already has enough for a lifetime, he can go to oil land right now.. thats popular this summer, right?
This guy is mentally ill. 100%.
what a rude thing to write.. Are you ok?
You have some real issues, besides occasionally being racist beyond belief. Seek professional help. Best of luck!
What a stupid comment but not surprising from @flyingturtle.
Why would you blame a man for wanting what his value is? If someone offered you double or triple your paper route would you take it? Most would donkey. And if you don’t that’s fine too. Every man has his choice. I wouldn’t blame him at all. And who are you to determine what is enough for another man and his family? Your a clown buddy.
It’s comical and completely hypocritical to criticize a PLAYER when they want leave to take greater riches elsewhere BUT give a pass for a CLUB that SELLS that same player for $$$.
A player is “greedy” if he wants to leave to make more than what his current club can offer for the “betterment of his family” BUT it’s ok for a club to sell that player to balance the books for the “betterment of the club” LOLOLOLO. Grow up you hypocritical clown.
If Tonali or any other player leaves it’s not their fault our club cannot afford them. Blame the club. Whatever. That’s the business. If you can’t compete with the financial big boys – and we can’t – don’t cry over it and blame the player. That is childish. And stop with the racist “oil land” comments donkey.
I’ll do what i want. You can call me what you want. Racist, bigot, piece of sht.. i dont care. I love the attention i get from snowflakes like you can martin.. just foking love it. I love how easily you get triggered.
Weak ašs man. Living in a fantasy world. Football fantasy. Fifa manager. Pc fantasy.
This will get deleted, I’ve no doubt about it. Still.
I think you’ve mis-read. The article clearly claims 8m *net*. So triple. “Tonali’s will at this point becomes fundamental because Newcastle’s offer is €8m net per season, over three times what he gets currently.”
If you read, “€8M Net” which means how much he gets paid from Newcastle compared to the €2.5M Net he currently gets from AC Milan.
Either way, if ACM were to get an offer in the range of €80M, I think you’d have to strongly consider it and look at how that could be re-invested into the squad. Fratesi, Koopenmeirs, Ricci (even sending Pobega back the other way for a discount), and Hjulmand could be purchased with that money gained from his sale. Locks up your Midfield problems with 4-5 rotation players that are all younger than 25.
No you can’t. You can surely buy 2, maybe 3 of them. And maybe. Honestly I would rather keep Tonali than almost any other player in the first 11. He is the only real fan of Milan along with Calabria, and also one of the few Italian players we have.
This mentality is the problem. You are not judging based on talent or performance but based on the fact that they are Italian or Milan fans. The fact is our midfield was a big problem this season after losing Kessie and Tonali is just not as good as the hype. If they can get this kind of money for him then they should. They can sign a better midfielder for that price even if he’s not Italian.
I think what they meant is 8m not including bonus.
If nobodies from France and Africa cost 40mil this days, Tonali costs at least 85mil. But even then i would prefer for him to stay. Just look at his aditude when we are losing or playing an important game. He gives 110% for the jersey. You can’t make a good team without plyers who love the team. Just look at the best teams thru history, all made from players who are also fans of the club. That’s why i want Baldanzi in this team as well, another Milan fan same like Tonali.
Tonali doesn’t want to leave Italy at the moment. He will find that kind of money in the future. He is only 23 with a career that is rising each year.
And for our American friends, Sandro was raised an ACM fan. It’s not only money for everyone.
P.S
So not only these jokers who are in charge of ACM are not willing to invest, using ridiculous excuses like “algorithms “ and other US bull… They are also willing to sell the future of Milan.
P.S 2
Newcastle initially wanted Barella and Zhang of course was positive in selling the player, but Curva Nord stated that Barella is untouchable. Just hope the same will happen in our occasion.
Pretty sure that brescia has 30% of the potential fee in a resale coming their way as we renegotiated the formula to buy him so 50-60 mil is far too little in my view.
If he leaves, I’m waiting for those who cried because Maldini never sold anyone for a profit to hate on the Americans for selling a symbol of the club! You know who are you!
Hahahahahaha!!! Exactly! @Pioli is #1 on that list!
Not surprised he and others may now be listening to offers. The manner in which Maldini was fired destabilized a compact tight group – the players now know if they can sack Maldini in such a callous manner these owners will have no issue or loyalty in shipping these players out when it suits them. So why not beat them to the punch if available. It’s something they are likely all considering. They were sold on a project that now may OR may not still exist. So thoughts of leaving are normal.
Bingo. I think that’s an underrated aspect of the whole firing. There has to be an air of uncertainty. There must be players questioning the project right now. Matter of fact fans are questioning the project. So far we haven’t heard anything as to the why of the firing and the new direction where we’re headed
This newspapers are writing articles has if Tonali told AC Milan that he wants to go to newcastle and Milan accepted the offensive and disrespectful offer of 50 m wen inglish players are going for 100+ m looking at you Declan Rice if Tonali was inglish every team from top 7 and above in premier league would offer 100+ m in a blink of a eye!You newcastle and company from premier league can grab your rivers of money and shove them were the sun cant shine Tonali is not for sale!
And that’s why buying young English players is a good idea for Italian and German teams, they have a higher value because the English clubs have money
Just so we’re straight 60-80m is not enough to reshape the team in a big way. Suddenly the players become expensive. Plus we’ve seen no evidence that money would make its way to outgoings as well as what’s originally been set aside. The wages offered won’t be increased so nothing changes except we lose tonali for another player maybe 2 to fill his role and another somewhere else. Let’s not forget Bennacer is out until December
Theo, Leao, Maignan and Tonali will one day earn that much and we all know that the city where they can do that is not Milano. Bellingham 30,15mio in age of 17 – thats the risk we have to follow
Give milan 80m for tonali, we believe he will go for another level and so american cheese burger can make his business.. hehe
For 80m i would let tonali go.
As much as i like the dude, he’s decent but nothing extra ordinary.
With 80m you can get 2-3 players to cover more area.
That being said, transfer market will forever be a gamble, no one can guarantee the new signings will gel right away with the team, as was tonali on his first season.
It’s a high price yes but the timing is bad – just sacking a legend of the club – then selling the future captain and boyhood fan of the club – an Italian – who sacrificed salary to help Milan – optics is atrocious for the fan base – BUT when has Redbird given a $hit about the fans lol. Also I don’t believe they would invest the entire transfer fee back into the club to purchase 2-3 players. Based on what they did with the UCL money ($120m – which they pocketed all of it and reduced our transfer budget this season ) – gives me no reason to believe they would suddenly invest all that Tonali money…
More of these decisions are likely only a matter of time – Leao, Theo, Mike are next…
This was always the problem Maldini had when trying to re-sign players…offering wages far far below what they can earn elsewhere. Theo can easily make 15-20m per season at PSG, Barca and other bigger spending clubs. Yet gets only 5m here. So what has to be different is the project and some other lure. It’s not enough to say we can re-sign work class talents as well as other good talents for cheap like it’s easy to do. They’re making the sacrifice, not us in many ways
Sell him please. Boy these premier league teams can throw around stupid money. He’s not worth half of that. I know everone loves Tonali because he’s Italian and he loved Milan as a boy, but he is overrated and Milan need a better quality starting midfielder. Milan should take the money and run. Get Kessie back.
