GdS: Optimism filters as Milan playmaker pushes for new deal – the offer and the demand

By Oliver Fisher -

There continues to be strong optimism that AC Milan and Hakan Calhanoglu will reach an agreement over a renewal in the coming weeks.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), the Turkey international continues to push to stay with the Rossoneri, even if there are only six months left until his current agreement expires.

His agent Gordon Stipic landed in Italy before Christmas for a meeting with the Rossoneri management, a meeting that both sides have since described as position.

The paper adds that the summit certainly confirmed the unanimous desire to reach a renewal, also tightening the gap between offer and demand.

Calhanoglu asked for €5m net per season plus bonuses to renew with Milan, the club responded with a proposal of €3.5m per season. There is still distance, but it is far from unbridgeable and now it is Milan who are evaluating the next move.

The next few days will be decisive in this regard as Milan will have to hurry, given that the deadline is now nearing, and in the mean time Dominik Szoboszlai has already signed for Leipzig. He was a potential replacement for Calhanoglu, but now Paolo Maldini and co. must convince the playmaker to stay.
