GdS: Optimism filters regarding Donnarumma’s renewal but one issue needs to be resolved

By Oliver Fisher -

While AC Milan’s squad are jetting off around the world for international duty, the management are looking to tie up a couple of key renewals.

According to Thursday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), work is in progress at Casa Milan to try and take concrete steps towards new deals for Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu. While on the front regarding the latter things have slowed down, it seems the Donnarumma situation is moving along nicely.

There have been contacts with Mino Raiola for the renewal of the Donnarumma brothers and talks are proceeding smoothly. Obviously, Milan is more interested in the extension of Gigio, and CEO Ivan Gazidis has raised the bar to €6.5m net per season, which is not far from the €7.5m demanded.

The economic agreement does not seem to worry the Rossoneri management too much, and if anything the thorny subject remains the release clause that Raiola would like to insert, which would be based on the club’s participation in the next edition of the Champions League.

The idea of Milan, in fact, is to keep Gigio for as long as possible, without thinking about a possible sale. There will therefore be further talks and possibly another meeting soon, but the feelings are positive.
