GdS: Pioli expected to have major midfield boost ahead of Frosinone trip

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is hopeful of having some difficult decisions to make regarding his midfield department in view of the game against Frosinone at the weekend.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recall, Bennacer returned to the pitch in December against Frosinone in December, after seven very long months of absence following the surgery on his knee.

In Frosinone on Saturday, the Algerian midfielder aims to pick up where he left off after departing for the the Africa Cup of Nations, where his nation did not do very well.

Yesterday Bennacer has started working on the pitch, with a clear objective: to become available to Pioli again for the away match at the weekend.

The physical problem that stopped Ismael, this time, is not serious. The stop came during the Africa Cup of Nations campaign with his Algeria, which ended at the group stages.

Bennacer had reported an adductor problem, but the tests he underwent upon returning to Italy showed no strain or tear.

Instead, the fatigue has gone away in the last few few days and the plan is for him to join the rest of his team-mates perhaps tomorrow or Thursday.

His return could be important from a tactical point of view for Pioli and the team, given there has been some concerns about the lack of balance in the midfield.
