GdS: Pioli recalls Origi for next friendlies but an exit is still being worked on

Stefano Pioli has decided to recall Divock Origi and use him in the next few friendlies but work is still ongoing for him to be sold this summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), Pioli is willing to give Origi some minutes now that the team is back from the tour in the United States of America which the Belgian forward was left out of.

Milan will be facing Monza, Trento and Novara before the season starts which are games where Pioli does not need to see his ideal starting eleven as much as he would against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Origi has been refusing the options that have come his way so far, be they from Saudi Arabia, Turkey or the Bundesliga.

West Ham are in the frame and they fact they are selling Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta may allow them to bid for Origi.

  1. It seems like Origi is going to stay and be third option after Giroud and Okafor.
Problem is Milan can’t find someone to purchase him and after can’t find adequate signing. It seems like Colombo Is going out for a loan.
Problem number 2 is if Origi continue to flop, he will become second Bakayoko…

    1. In the current 433 system, Origi will be a much better fit than Oli. Oli does not have the speed to chase the ball, when he is played through. There were certain situations in the games against Barca ,Oli couldn’t follow up on through balls. Reinjders put him through several times but all to no avail. I think that is why Pioli is thinking through in trying Origi in that role,we never know he could breakthrough this season.

  2. Pioli shouldn’t even play him in friendlies. He has to get the idea that there’s no chance for him this year. Sure he might just sit on the sidelines and be happy to pick up his inflated paycheck but most pro footballers also want to play. Also if he picks up an injury (like Messias did in a recent friendly) then there’s basically no chance anyone will buy him.

  3. Rebic only left because basically we gave him away for nothing. We’re going to have to do the same with Origi as well.

The valuation that people had on our players that were so sure to be leaving were unrealistic.

The reality is that these players, Messias, Rebic, Krunic, Salad, Ballo are worth very little.

When they have a high salary demand it becomes almost impossible to offload if they aren’t any good.

It’ll be interesting to see how many sales, not loans, that we can actually accomplish.

  4. There was no justification for not taking Origi to the US – especially if you can afford to take CdK and Messias. Even, if you are planning to sell them, which I believe was the situation with CdK, Messias and Adli.

That tour may have even helped to improve the chance to sell him, especially if he had done well, because he had a lot to prove.

Not taking him was a strong arm tactics by the club. We could say the same for Balo-Toure, but let’s not go there. Apart from Rebic, who already fell out with the coach, which is obviously bad for the locker room, the other guys have faithfully served the club without causing trouble.

We can always argue that you can’t take everybody…
