GdS: Pioli wants to match Capello’s record and can call upon many weapons

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli wants to join the esteemed company of Fabio Capello by winning a second straight league title.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) recall that Capello is the only Milan coach to ever win back to back Scudetti, and that is one of the objectives that Pioli wants to accomplish.

After four seasons as the Rossoneri’s manager Pioli has already shown himself to be an inspired appointment given his very high average points, securing the return to the Champions League after eight years, winning the league after 11 years and doing so with a young squad he has helped grow.

The attack has been bolstered by the permanent signing of Junior Messias, the return from Bordeaux of Yacine Adlì and the purchase of Charles De Ketelaere plus the signing of Ante Rebic, a revitalised Ante Rebic and having Olivier Giroud back to fitness.

In short, the Rossoneri coach is ready to use all his available weapons to win another title, from having explosive full-backs cut into the middle of the field and having his midfielders bomb forward into the box, with a high defensive line and threat from the wings – there are a lot of strings to Milan’s bow.
