GdS: Pobega and Vranckx among Pioli’s intriguing experiments vs. Arsenal

By Oliver Fisher -

There will be a couple of interesting albeit forced tactical peculiarities in the AC Milan line-up for the game against Arsenal today, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) speaks of a sort of pieced together Milan starting XI due to the fact there are so many absentees because of either injury or due to being at the World Cup, or being on vacation after.

Tommaso Pobega should be deployed in the role of left-back for the game against Arsenal this afternoon, a forced choice given that Theo Hernandez is still at the World Cup with France, while Fode Ballo-Touré is on vacation after the tournament in Qatar.

In the middle of the field, however, there is great curiosity to see Aster Vranckx in the double pivot alongside Sandro Tonali. When originally signed it was presumed he would be deployed there, but so far Pioli has used him in a more advanced role.
