GdS: Probable XIs for Milan vs. Empoli – three changes from Napoli win

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is set to make some changes to his starting XI for the game against Empoli compared to the team that beat Napoli, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), Pioli will field a back four consisting of Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Alessandro Florenzi in front of Mike Maignan. The main news is that Fode Ballo-Toure – the only available natural left-back due to Theo’s suspension – is not expected to start.

Sandro Tonali will get a rest allowing Franck Kessie to drop back into the double pivot alongside Ismael Bennacer. Brahim Diaz is therefore expected to get the nod as the playmaker.

To complete the attack it should be Alexis Saelemaekers on the right wing, Rafael Leao on the left wing and Olivier Giroud the centre-forward, hoping to build on his winner in Naples.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Kalulu, Florenzi; Bennacer, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

Probable Empoli XI (4-3-2-1): Vicario; Stojanovic, S. Romagnoli, Luperto, Parisi; Zurkowski, Asllani, Bandinelli; Henderson, Bajrami; Pinamonti.
