GdS: Situation changes regarding Adli’s future – Milan have a plan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan seem to have already made a decision on Yacine Adli ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) write that Adli seemed as though he would be a protagonist of the January window, which opens in 10 days, as the Rossoneri were thinking of letting him go on loan, but at the moment the feeling is that he wants to stay until June and then will be assessed.

His first months with Milan have been difficult due to not being used much, but the hope is that in the second part of the season he will be able to recover his form. The management are convinced by his talent so will given him until June, and then if things are still not ideal a loan will be considered then.

Adli was signed from Bordeaux in the summer of 2021 but was left on loan there for a season, and his adaptation to a new life in Italy will take time given his young age, the competitiveness of the league plus the competition from €30m+ man Charles De Ketelaere, Brahim Diaz and Rade Krunic.

Adli impressed in the preseason friendlies and also in the winter ones, but it remains to be seen if this is enough to overhaul the hierarchies that Pioli has established. He could become useful if there was a change of formation, given his ability to play as a box-to-box midfielder.

What has changed compared to before is that if Adli had asked for a loan to play more Milan would probably have said yes, but now they plan to make the most of all the resources available for the second part of the season.
