GdS: Talks scheduled for crucial €80m next phase of Milan and Inter’s new stadium project

A new meeting will take place between Milan, Inter and the City Council regarding the construction of the new San Siro on Tuesday, a report claims.

The two clubs want to construct new state-of-the-art home as was revealed late last year, with Italian firm Manica and American giants Populous the two competing firms trying to land the project.

We reported back in February via our correspondent Vito Angele that talks were progressing in the right direction regarding the development, with a green light expected, but the Coronavirus emergency has slowed things.

According to the latest from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), a meeting will take place between the two clubs and the Council regarding the volume of area around the stadium that the project will take up.

The paper claims that this step will cost the two clubs €80million. The original plans of the Council included 180,000 cubic metres of space to work with, a building index of 0.35 – however Milan and Inter want 0.65, so there is a big difference to begin with.
