GdS: The derby will be Tonali’s match – he has a chance to show Inter what they are missing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Inter will head into the derby a week on Saturday knowing there is a bit of extra spice in the air given what happened with Sandro Tonali.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), it will be ‘Tonali’s match’ in many ways because the 20-year-old midfielder was close to joining Inter over the summer but then chose to join his boyhood club Milan.

In all likelihood, Tonali will start from the bench as head coach Stefano Pioli will opt for the assurances that Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie give in the middle of the park.

So far, the former Brescia starlet has played a couple of games as a starter for the Rossoneri and doesn’t appear to be fully up to speed yet, but he is getting better with every outing.

Pioli is slowly inserting him into Milan’s engine and there is no rush. The coach and the club are happy with the young midfielder, the most expensive purchase of the last transfer campaign.

He certainly does not lack quality and confidence and has shown his vision of the game, plus his ability to use both feet and his passing range. After the international break, he has a chance to show Inter what they missed out on.

Derby against inter is never about tonali transfer but about acmilan pedigree… The continuity of the good job put together by the club the coach and also the players before the arrival of tonali …..likes of kessie calhanoglu and benacer should be the name to call until tonali start proving is talent…we need our best player for the derby
