GdS: Tonali shy and slow in Lille defeat – he is paying the price for making big move

By Oliver Fisher -

Newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport have not held back on their assessment of Sandro Tonali’s time at AC Milan so far.

Milan pulled off one of the signings of the summer when they completed the coup of Tonali from Brescia on a loan with option to buy deal, beating competition from city rivals Inter in the process.

Pioli will expect a lot from Tonali in the coming months, as after an initial period of adaptation and a bit of time to get up to match fitness, he will now have to start showing why the Rossoneri could end up stumping up €35m for him

La Gazzetta (via MilanNews) have not held back though in their Friday edition, stating that the 20-year-old Italy international did not convince in the middle of the field at all against Lille.

The youngster instead appeared too ‘shy, slow and played without initiative’, losing the battle against Renato Sanches comfortable. They even go on to make the bold claim that he is ‘paying for the jump to a big club’.
