AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has two main problems to fix over the international break after last night’s 2-1 defeat against Napoli, a report claims.
La Gazzetta dello Sport writes how Milan’s 22-game unbeaten run in Serie A was snapped by Luciano Spalletti’s side as a penalty from Matteo Politano and a header from Giovanni Simeone either side of Olivier Giroud’s equaliser.
The first issue is in the defensive department which has turned from a strength to an area of concern after the seven goals they conceded in the last five games across all competitions Inter, against Inter, Sampdoria and Napoli in the league plus Red Bull Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Milan let in just 31 goals last season and only nine in the second half of the season, with two of those in the final 11 games which helped the Rossoneri sprint towards the Scudetto, so more resilience is needed.
The other big thing to tackle is to integrate the new signings that arrived in the summer. Charles De Ketelaere is yet to score, Sergiño Dest conceded a penalty kick while Yacine Adli and Aster Vranckx have made mere minutes and Malick Thiaw has not yet been seen.
