AC Milan’s hunt for a new central defender continues and they have opened talks over a deal for Tanguy Nianzou of Sevilla, according to a report.
According to what is being reported by Il Giornale (via PianetaMilan), it is Nianzou’s name that remains a target on Milan’s list as we head towards the closing of the winter market.
The French defender, of Ivorian origin, is someone that Geoffrey Moncada scouted a couple of years ago when he was at PSG but the player chose Germany.
The Rossoneri management have asked Sevilla for a loan with option to buy deal, given that he is not currently finding much playing time with the Andalusian club and appears to be outside of their plans.
This season Nianzou has played just 409 minutes across nine appearances in LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and Champions League as he is recovering from a thigh injury which kept him out until the end of December 2023.
The former PSG and Bayern Munich man is still young at 21 years of age but already quite experienced, having already worn the shirts of the two clubs mentioned and with Champions League experience under his belt.
Il Giornale does not state what the response of Sevilla was to the idea of a loan with option, but with just over a week left in the window Moncada is in a hurry.
He’s actually a very interesting prospect that has already played at the highest level.
Though I should add Sevilla have been absolutely awful this season. I won’t say it’s his fault really. There is a lot wrong with that team.
We do not freacking need any more defenders!!! Let the young guys play!
And If we lose a game you’d complain about why the team didn’t sign a center back
