Olivier Giroud’s wife, Jennifer Giroud, has said that the move to AC Milan was a turning point for the striker to show that he can still perform at a high level.

The Frenchman’s partner was talking during an interview with Le Figaro (via Milan News) when she discussed his current form with France and also his spell at Milan which has gone extremely well.

Giroud was expected to be a backup striker in the French squad at the Qatar World Cup this summer but after Karim Benzema pulled out of the squad through injury, the Rossoneri forward has been the main striker.

He has netted three times at the tournament already, helping France to reach the quarter-finals where they will be facing England and some of Giroud’s former teammates.

Speaking of his record for France, Jennifer said: “For him it is an honour, something to be proud of. Olivier, however, is an altruist who builds himself in the collective, who loves to win with the team.

“His path deserves respect because he earned everything with courage and mental strength, without ever giving up,” she said.

On the move to Milan which helped to get Giroud’s career back on track, she said: “It was the turning point to prove that he could still be counted on.”

He has scored 23 goals in 57 appearances for Milan since joining from Chelsea.
